Sleep deprivation; the mother of invention
As with many "mom-invented"
baby products, the inspiration behind the Little Loaf™ baby wrap grew out
of necessity. It evolved from the need for my little one to be assuaged,
to sleep better, and to cry less. As a mother, a nurse, and a midwife, not only did I need more sleep and
more time, but also I understood the importance of creating a gentle environment
for newborns, including the importance of helping a baby transition from
life inside mama to life in the outside world.

I knew swaddling was the most effective method for calming babies throughout
history and that current research supported more and better benefits for
wrapping newborns. However, like many others, I was unsuccessful in
my attempts to keep my little one effectively swaddled in receiving blankets
and was not satisfied with any available swaddling products.

So, in the wee hours of the night with a crying baby in my arms, I
committed myself to creating a safe, effective, and desirable baby wrap to
help all caregivers and all babies ease the transition to their new lives.
After many days and nights of thinking, sketching, and creating, the perfect
baby wrap was finally a reality...and the Little Loaf™ baby wrap was born.
Little Loaf
The name "Little Loaf" was coined by my father who believed that swaddled babies were like little loaves of bread -- fresh, sweet, warm, and compact -- that could
be carried with ease under one's arm. |
